vIN DE BOURGOGNE
CHÂTEAU DE TRACY
Chateau de Tracy has been run by the same family since 14th century. Records of the property go back to 1396 when “Les Champs de Crix” vineyard was purchased. Nowadays, this particular vineyard is still planted with Sauvignon and is still a “key part” of the Domaine.
In 1586, Francoise Stutt married Francois de Bar who brought him as a dowry the seigneur of Tracy. By their wedding, the descendants of the Comte d’Assay and his young brother, Francois Stutt, current owners of the Chateau de Tracy, get together two branches of a one and only family separated during four centuries.
The Domaine consists of 33 hectares on the slopes around the Chateau itself (terroir of flint) and those of Vilmoy, a few kilometers away from Pouilly-sur-Loire (Kimmeridgian limestone terroir). To the north of the Pouilly Fume area, on the hillsides which overlook the Loire, the Chateau de Tracy vineyard extends from “Tracy Hill” to the “Champs de Cris” plateau.

Like every northern wine region, Pouilly-Fumé shows a very pronounced “vintage effect” in 2015. Such climate conditions, have promoted an outstanding aromatic complexity.
The 2015 season started with a mild winter, one of the mildest in the past 100 years and was followed by a cool spring. Winter rainfall was higher than usual until the end of February and contributed to the creation of excellent water reserves which proved particularly useful during the summer months when temperatures and rainfall were back to normal for the season. Cool nights preserved the fleshiness of the berries and helped maintain good acidity levels. The harvest started on 3rd September and finished on the 22nd. Once again they made the decision to harvest early, as the dry and hot weather during the summer produced very aromatic grapes with high levels of maturity. They challenge was to preserve their freshness to produce a complex but delicate and refined Sauvignon.
Appearance: Pale yellow with bright silvery/green highlights.
Nose: intense, opening up on notes of boxwood, citrus fruit and mango. A short time in the glass opens up the typical Sauvignon aromas of yellow fruit (apricot and nectarine) and flowers (broom and lily of the valley), underpinned by spicy notes of green peppers and vanilla.
Palate: In addition to the aromas of the bouquet the first taste sensation is of ripe fruit with a pleasant, refreshing stricture. We then return to more floral notes, ending with grapefruit zest and sweet spices. The palate has great aromatic length, carried by a lovely texture.
